Whether you've experienced him during live stage performances, casually heard his voice coming through your speakers, or he captured your eyes and ears with an audiovisual, the unforgettable energy, crooning melodic vocals, and dreamlike visuals created and demonstrated by I K Sega, turned heads, opened eyes, and dropped jaws when he made his way onto the music scene with his live stage debut and R&B album, Redemption, release in Las Vegas, Nevada 2010.
The youngest of five siblings, Frank "Frankie" Brown, Jr., better known by his stage name, I K Sega was born June 1, 1989, in Winchester, Tennessee with fetal distress. Just three days after birth and being released from the hospital, a vehicle coming downhill careened into uphill oncoming traffic resulting in a head-on collision.
In addition to taking musical courses from K-12, being raised in his hometown of Decherd Tennessee, where his father practiced the organ, and played in the church (New Hope Cowan C.O.G.I.C) where his father, Frank Brown, Sr., a deacon and lead organist, after Sunday services, would train him to play the drums, organ, and piano, led to music becoming second nature. It wasn't until the death of his grandfather in early 2001, however, that heavily influenced I K to begin writing poetry to instrumentals of his favorite artists, at the time, thus piquing an interest to become a poet using spoken word and to have a voice, since he is his mother's only biological child and would keep to himself mostly growing up. It wasn't until August of 2005 when a hometown producer overheard his song 'Hit Me Up' via Myspace that I K received an invite to record his music professionally that would begin his music career as a rapper. He would go on to graduate from Franklin County High School, and from that moment on would transition as a recording artist from the genre of rhythm and poetry, or rap, to genres: R&B followed by Hip-Hop, Pop, and Horrorcore, which allowed him to further his music career as a music producer, storyline creator, vocalist, and composer.
"The music I create helps me do better as a person because without it as an outlet to express myself, overcoming the challenges I face daily wouldn't be manageable. I found purpose, myself, and a way to serve mankind through my calling of music, and believe it's the reason I'm still alive and why I was able to grow into a better version of myself".
